Can someone explain step by step how to post a picture please?

I spent a few hours up at the property today. I am in the process of putting together a short video.

Ronnie and some others have been up there previously brush hogging and doing other things. Today Ronnie was operating a mini excavator or what he called a “track hoe.” Kevin Meine was operating a skid loader. Jim (didn’t catch his last name, sorry!) was doing a bunch of different things to help out. Dennis McBride brought out a pump and set it up.

Ronnie told me today, “We got started about 8 am. We are getting stuff prepped, stuff that we can get cleaned up before the excavators get here, but I want to leave some of these shade trees down here. We’re going to get all of that cleaned up and we had to drain the little pond there that sort of looks like a moat, in front of the Mid America Raceway Park Blvd. sign by the service road. Then we’re going to clear the tree lines out."

The pump to pump out the pond was supplied by Danny Holder of Holder Plumbing in O’Fallon. Ronnie told me he is the former owner of another business but I didn’t catch it – if anyone knows if he’s got a website or Facebook, or the name of his old business, please let me know so I can update this.

Dennis, who worked at the old M.A.R. as a tech inspector, and who will be working at Mid America Raceway Park as a tech inspector and also doing any other duty needed, went to Dan’s and got the pump and brought it out.

Ronnie told me, “The surveyors finished on Wednesday, April 25. We have to meet with Cochran Surveyors in Wentzville next, but that has not been scheduled yet. I expect a call from them any day. Then we have to meet with Brian Howell of Howell Excavating who is doing the drag strip.”

I’ll keep updating as I can and as other things are going on.

Carolyn, Dan Holder owned a rather large plumbing business in Moscow Mills, but when the housing market crashed his business as well as several others suffered. He was also the owner of Wise Speed Shop located in the same building as the plumbing business as well as on Hampton Ave. He also owns Elite Motorsports which I believe is still in business, that company restores and/or builds all types of classic and high performance cars.

Thank you! Wise Speed Shop is what Ronnie said, but I couldn't quite make it out on my recording.

This is just a few minutes of some trees coming down yesterday.

Ronnie called me this morning to give me an update. He, Dave Hemsath, Steve Stahlschmidt, Brian Howell of Howell Excavating, and Kurt and Jim of Cochran (the engineering/surveying firm) had a meeting Tuesday evening. Cochran’s website is www.cochraneng.com if you want to check them out.

Ronnie told me, “We went over the topo readings and everything else needed for the track and got that all lined up. I went back out on Tuesday night and marked the center of the track exactly where we want it and the surveyor, Greg, was back out there yesterday finishing up the measurements on the track surface today.”

He also said that Dennis (I didn’t catch the last name, sorry) was supposed to be over there today to disc an 180 foot wide path where the track will be laid in order to kill the foxtail grass per the excavator's request.

For anyone who is not sure what that means, a disc is piece of farm equipment on the back of a tractor that tills the ground and in this case will chop up any plants there to kill them. It is made of a bunch of metal discs that slice into the ground and turn the dirt over. I will try to go past there tomorrow and take a picture but no promises… I’m babysitting three other kids and have my own two toddlers. I’ll keep you posted as Ronnie keeps me posted.

The plan is to keep as many trees as possible, Ronnie trying to keep that same atmosphere as that of the old mar! also should have covered seating!!

we will be driving by there june 16 headed for gateway for out club race. can't wait for mar park to be ready. then its a 1hr and 15 min drive rather than a 3 hr drive.
