You got it all wrong. I saw a news conference. The owners are Winnie the Pooh, Santa Claus, and The Easter Bunny. Later on it is rumored that Mother Nature will run the circle track.

If they didn't drain the system down last year the toilets ,sinks hydrants could be bad now main lines also .Surprise if copper hasn't been stolen yet . Like most utilities water, electrical is the owners responsibility to the meters .
I hope if these 2 tracks open ,they consider racing into December alot of cooler days then this CRAP where the car counts would be down anyway .Most like spring and fall racing they go faster .

If I remember correctly, Everything above ground was drained. One of the other guys was in charge of that. He would shut all the water off, remove all the faucets and flush controls and blow it out with a big compressor.
He would plunge most of the water out of the toilet and use a shop vac to remove what was left if needed.
At times some sections would be shut down months ahead of time. Such as the big grandstands in turn 2. Shortly after the last scheduled oval event, they would tear it down. That way it would have a couple warm months for everything to dry out before winter.

Has there been any talk of who actually bought the place? if it is true. I would think if someone bought it they would try to open it the rest of the season just to get people coming back and test operation before a new season and to prep the place to maybe bring some big events in 2012 and get on schedule with IHRA NHRA ADRL

Here is the latest Gateway rumor that I heard. A concrete company is buying it. No, not to reopen the track, but to build a concrete plant there for the new highway construction. Hope that one does not come true.

GIR is about 25 times larger and 150 times more expensive than it needs to be for a concrete batch plant. They only way that could happen is if the state took it over to be the complete staging site for the bridge construction project.I don't see Illinois doing that with as much vacant ground as there is around there.

It may have been bought by someone, And they could be allowing them to use it until racing starts. After all the inside of the circle track is secure place for equipment.
