The bad thing about GIR and the National events, is less track time for everyone else. Yeah I love the way your innards vibrate from a top fuel dragster, but at the prices they charge, Ill stay home. I work too hard for the "not enough money I make", I could buy stuff for my car instead. Yea it was a bit expensive but we planned for it every year and with having three boys it worked out perfect to take one each day. Actually it was just over a hundred dollars a ticket for three days which isn't so bad, I know people who will drop that on a concert that only last a few hours. To each his own I guess. Pay entry for two cars and fuel for two cars and two tow vehicles not to mention food for the crew and yourself and pray that everything stays together. When it's all said and done your check book is about $1200.00 lighter . But as has been said, to each his own, I chose to enter two cars so I guess I can't B*%^H

Gateway had eight points races in 2010. Well, still not many, but more than five. They had several events you could race that were not regular points races. NHRA open, Megabucks, Black Sunday, NMCA, Gamblers and lots of heads-up T&T's. Depending on what you race there was also several Outlaw Allstar races, Muscle car reunion, Moster Mopar, and Yenko Club. Some pay more than others but they are events you can race. That's a lot more than "5".

nationwide.nascar.com/nationwide-series/2010/news/headlines/bg/11/03/gateway-ends-operations/Posted this morning Gateway will offically close its doors Dover Motorsports, Inc. announced Wednesday that it was ceasing all operations at Gateway International Raceway. The company previously announced that it would not seek to run any NASCAR events at the facility in 2011. The track ran its final Nationwide Series event on Oct. 23, 2010. "Gateway is a tremendous facility in a great racing community, but we are simply unable to operate it with an acceptable return," Denis McGlynn, president and CEO of Dover Motorsports, said. "We truly appreciate the many years of dedication shown by our Gateway employees and their efforts to make Gateway such a great destination for all those passionate about our sport -- from racing fans and drivers to sponsors, team owners and sanctioning bodies." The majority of the track is leased from third parties. The company owns approximately 150 acres of the facility and has been in discussions with several interested purchasers

Its hard to be on the BAND WAGON when we cant hear the BAND . Its tuff to stay positive . DR The old saying -- [No News is Good News]. I hope that applies in this case. I agree that it is tuff to stay positive without any word of where it stands right now. I was checking this board 3 to 4 times a day to keep others informed that don't have access. Can't help with no info. I can't imagine how hard Ronnie, Shawn, and others have worked to get this far, and I will do anything that I can to help, but I do feel that we have been left hanging without any new info. Hopefully they will have good news at the car show.

good news comes to those who wait what we said before the new gateway was built ... now that gateway is gone most of us 's couldn.t wait for that day , some where very happy,, thinking that if they closed someone who was a racer would buy it ,, and racer would be better off ,, well tell me how that works out now for ya,, we all will have to wait on this track,, hopefully it does get done , because no matter,, the rumer that gateway will survive is but a dream of someone , not reality ,,

Is this true? Was there an announcement of it anywhere? I hope it does open to serve as a facility til the new track opens. Id really love to see the new track open up still. Would probably attend there more. But hell, the more tracks the merrier.
