PEOPLE COMPLAINED ABOUT NOT GETTING OUT BEFORE 1 AM ] Never understood this. You bust you're ass all week trying to get ready for Saturday night, for something you enjoy to do, then once you get there, hey hurry up and get it over with. Best racing on the street didn't start until 1 or 2 in the morning. (thats what Ive been told anyway. ) I personally think the time runs where starting too early at Gateway. You time run in the heat of the day, then eliminations when the sun starts to drop. All to get back home early.

I agree! I don't want to be home at 10:00 However I can see the point of some. When I race at benton (4+ hours from home) is sure sucks to be pulling out of the gate at 1:00 am.

I think the circle track is THE huge obstacle in any possible sale of Gateway. The dragstrip did ok, but that circle track has lost a ton of money and just maintaining it must cost a fortune, even if it isn't being used.
That's gonna be a tough one to figure out......

It's a shame that the drag strip is involved in the whole mess. I went to every NHRA event, beginning in 1997 and they always had big crowds so the support was there, just not for the oval track.
Hopefully the NHRA will come back to town someday. I know it will take some time, especially if Gateway never re-opens but I hope that those involved with building the new MAR will take into consideration future plans that might facilitate a national event.

The bad thing about GIR and the National events, is less track time for everyone else. Yeah I love the way your innards vibrate from a top fuel dragster, but at the prices they charge, Ill stay home. I work too hard for the "not enough money I make", I could buy stuff for my car instead.

There are two things that whole deal is going to hinge on, first getting the tax debt forgiven. Second the multiple owners thing has to be addressed. The chances of both of those getting worked out I would think is very slim.

Yea it was a bit expensive but we planned for it every year and with having three boys it worked out perfect to take one each day. Actually it was just over a hundred dollars a ticket for three days which isn't so bad, I know people who will drop that on a concert that only last a few hours. To each his own I guess.
