The idea is to get the crew to jell as a team and get reaquainted with the complete process. Sitting over the winter is a little different than sitting idle during the summer with plants being able to grow up through and cracks or gaps. The other reason is to make sure the racing surface is good enough down the length of the track to see if it will have to be ground or not.

With this public relations move I would think a web site would pop up next. If they would open in a short period of time they better be ready for a bunch of cars. I would love to see a Friday,Saturday,Sunday race until the snow flys

Went by AGAIN today... Still no signs of life AT ALL!! Did look like someone moved some of the barracades around but other than that, didn't see a thing that even looks like anyone has been in there doing anything.

When did this become a gateway site? I'm sure they would like to hear of the support for them!

Steve, we all know this the MAR Park forum, but with there not being a whole lot going on and with Gateway showing some signs of life everyone is just excited to have a local track that you don't have to drive 3 hours one way to race. And I'm sure that there are people telling them what is going on.

Not to be too disrespectful this MARP site has seen 42 pages of MARP progress and 16 pages progress on hold . With the most Activity in Dec 2010 .
GIR has 4 pages leased to reopen and 11 pages of rumors.
The hype and disappointment has swayed back and forth for both tracks since last Oct 2010.
When Marp announces that it has secured and broken ground .Call the TV stations , Radio, newspapers , and all the racing websites to get aboard .The cheers will be just as loud .
If both tracks open they will have a crowd following . I'll support both .Beats traveling 21/2 hours and a hotel room .
I heard GIR has a facebook page now ,what happen to MARP page ? Respectfully Mouthracer

Ah yes. MARP, a bean field, or Gateway, a real race track. Yes! Gateway is returning. There has bee so much published on it who can possibly miss the good news. NHRA welcomed Gateway back with open arms, they are so glad to return and to have it in the countdown is for sue gong to be a big plus. Enough said, can't wait for next race season. Maybe two tracks?

They ARE working over at Gateway, starting at the end of the shutdown working towards the starting line. They are also working on the road course, and inside the buildings. Little bird said last weekend of Sept. or first weekend of Oct. to have cars going down the track, most likely an invited group just to get the track employees to gel as a unit and do a complete checkout of operations.

Yeah, I drove over there at 2 o'clock in the afternoon drove around the place and didn't see a thing except for chains and barricades. We even drove around the back side of the place (spectator side on the little road that comes off 203) to see if we see anything happening over there, NOTHING!!
