Hope it opens back up but I dont understand the 1 year lease. From reading these posts , the track has cracks with weeds growing in them and the facilities went to hell. How much will it cost to bring it up to national event standards? It has to be a few bucks. Sounds like it will be a loss after the year. From, what I understood even with a national event gateway was still in the hole 1.5 million at the end of the last operating year and I believe it was Brent kepner in one of his posts that reveilled it would take 5 national events to break even. Are the landowners going to fix up the track or the leasee and investors? Seems to me it must have been a bitch to find investors to fork out that much money with only 1 year to try and find some type of payback unless there is a long term commitment somewhere.

my impression was that in order to secure a national event they had to do something quickly=lease....and as I read the article, they are now working out details with state and local government to proceed with the outright purchase, which I assume may take some time. But I got the impression they were definetly going for the longterm.......

Fantastic news!!! Hopefully Monster Mopar will come home next year! I thought the Monster Mopar event was bought by the people that run ORP (Indianapolis). Hopefully I am wrong? Still, there is nothing to prevent another Mopar event from materializing.

Fantastic news!!! Hopefully Monster Mopar will come home next year! Since Scott sold Monster Mopar (name/event) to Josh King who lives in Indy I doubt it's coming back to Gateway. I've heard that some of the guys that used to help Scott run Monster Mopar were planning on starting their own event on the normal M/M date if Gateway reopens. You might say they feel snubbed/crapped on by Scott after the way Scott sold the event and to this day still hasn't told them about the sale himself. He won't answer their phone calls and won't call them back.

I bet there are a bunch of cars rolled out of the garage in the near future being cleaned up and checked out with some smiling faces. I know that my diesel fuel savings will be nice.

NOW.....all the people that are so gungho on MAR park and Monster Mopar need to show up at Gateway when they open, and support your local track on regular basis....!!!!
The excuses of the "economy", to far to travel and gas money will soon be a thing of the past!!!
So what will the excuses be now for not showing up???

My engine is in pieces , but I'll be at the gate when it opens, even if it's just to watch. Still trying to figure how to get something together quick.

sp7128 is right insaying we all need to show our support for Gateway. If they see a large turnout it will show that there is good reason to make the drag racers happy. Happy racers are more likely to return more often to a place that want them there.Just make the payouts guanteed and of a decent amount so that it makes it worth coming back.

I wonder why they didn't have their cars together over the past winter when they thought MARP was going in Eolia ,now this summer knowing that Montgomery was likely . still after 34 years of racing I'll travel still to get my fix . Can't keep waiting . Should of Could of never got nowhere .
