Lot of folks don't know whats going on with the state of development of the MAR Park project.Part of this is because the previous thread pertaining to this subject is pages long. A lot has nothing to do with the state of track development. My understanding is that Ameren rejected any track use of the powerline easement for race track development causing Ronnie and the guys to reorientate the placement of the track on the existing piece of real estate. That requires new P&Z approval which is in the works. Hopefully the plan and approval will be secured at the P&Z August meeting at which time full surveying, grading, prep and concrete pouring could/would occur after crop harvest. The rest of phase one construction would finish during the winter(weather permitting) to be ready for Spring 2012 opening.
Ronnie and Guys if any of this is incorrect PLEASE correct it!!!

i would think that they are on hold until crops get out, and a survey of the land be done to actualy put the track on a paper trail as to how it lays on the property as well as any intrance /exit issues then they will set it for a motion to the pz meeting , i think?

I have a question for everyone if the track is going to be NHRA. What happens if gateway was to reopen next year and was NHRA would that kill any chance on a big event for MAR park? Also if some of the big racing names was involved with gateway would NHRA pull the same stuff nascar did promise a regular stop and then pull out of Marpark and play favorites and give it to gateway. What does NHRA do that would be better than IHRA or just being outlaw? I dont know the inner workings of any of the groups Just want to know the benefits of any of the groups

Rumor has it that they are considering getting rid of the Alcohol classes at the Divisional races. From knowing Ronnie and all the guys my guess would be that there will be several nostaliga races at the New MAR.

You have to rememeber, if Gateway reopens as a NHRA track, it's in division 3 while MARPark would be in division 5, so they would compliment each other, actually increasing the ability of divisional racers to gain points. As far as national events go, MARPark would have to become a showplace in additionally the family friendly place it plans to be in order to get an event. That would take a major capital infusion, along with a lot of local logistical support facilities: (housing, gas, food, resturants....)

True. But there are probably enough rooms in the area to take care of whatever there may need to be, you have to remember most of the guys that travel to NHRA divisional and Nostaliga races now have Motorhomes or Toters and they stay right where they are once they get to the track. Many of the spectators either just come in for one day or there is a camping facility somewhere near the track. Yeah, they may not be within walking distance to the track, but there a lot of rooms within 20-30 minutes of the track, Warrenton, Wentzville, Kingdom City plus several small hotels along I-70. As far as restaurants, most of them are fast food joints. You would have to drive 30 miles in either direction to find a place to actually have a cooked to order meal (well I guess you could go into New Florence and Montgomery City). I'm sure that once MAR is open the need to put up more areas will become obvious to someone and there will be Gas Stations and Hotels and restaurants close to Montgomery City and New Florence.
