Back in the 90's at the old MAR Nostalgia Drags there was a tube chassis 65 or 66 GTO, either black or maybe a very dark burgundy, blown, that ran well into the 8's. They were there several times, scary fast for the time, ridin the edge of the grass often times, anyone remember this car? Who was that (his name)? Any info on the car? Does it still exist? Pics? Thanks for any input. Ken.

That would have been Keith Potter. I dont think he has the car anymore. It may still be owned by someone though?

Rich Gebhardt re did the car for what was then called Potter and Weiss. Wiess owned the car and Keith tuned it and I believed owned the powertrain in it. Last I heard the car was out west some where running Pro Gas. Keith had Gebhardt start on a 63 Vette around 10 years ago but I think that project hit a wall. Last time I saw the Vette it was in Gebhardts storage shed.

I believe he and Bill Weckman were pretty close ET wise. Weckman ran some 8.20's and 8.30's But I think before they got rid of the car (the GTO) it was running some 7.90's. Speaking of Weckman I saw him cruising the pits at Gateway over the weekend. The car now has a Cowl hood on it and what sounded like a pretty mild motor in it. Still looks as good as it always did.

Ok, 8.20's is what I was thinking. Last time I saw Weckman's car is was like that, very mild, just bracket racing. Thanks for the input.
