Hello everyone so up dates on the 2013 NHRA rulebook. New for 2013
A) We have more forms: Pro License, New Sportsman, Renew Sportsman, Upgrade/Crossgrade/Add Class Sportsman, & Transfer.A Transfer will be from IHRA etc.
B) Also added MINOR version of the new, upgrade, and transfer applications.
C) Also new this year is a Class 5 livense. The Class 5 will be for competitors running 10.00 and slower but do not hold an unrestricted state issued drivers license.
D) Fees and expration dates are being combined. One fee for license (in one category) and membership.
Class 5 License
A) No physical required.
B) 6 passes, approved by track official, and two NHRA licensed drivers.
C) Follow non-;icensed fee structure. One or two years.
D) Membership required.
New Sportsman License Applications
A) New App. - For drivers who are expired over two years or have never held a license.
a. Look is new with sections for completion. Follow the check boxes to complete the form for your own situation.
b. No big changes other than the addition of Class 5.
c. And combined fees: $225 for license and membership for one category for two years.
B) Renewal App. - For drivers renewing on time or less than two years.
a. Look is new with sevtions for completion. Follow the check boxes to complete the form for your own situation.
b. No big changes, other than being a separate form.
c. And combined fees: $225 for license and membership for one category for two years.
C) Upgrade/Crossgrade/Add Class App. - For drivers with current NHRA livense looking to add qualification.
a. Look is new with sections for completion. Follow the check boxes to complete the form for your own situation.
b. No big changes otehr than being a seperate app.
D) Transfer App. - For drivers with a current competition license with an NHRA ASO.
a. This is replacing the "Crossover" livense, to eliminate confusion with the crossgrade.
b. Look is new with sections for completion. Follow the check boxes to complete the form for your own situation.
c. No changes in the procedure. Only changes are the looks and name of the form.
d. And combined fees: $225 for license and membership for one category for two years.
E) Physical - Still required for all new and renewal applications, no changes to physical form for 2013.
New Minor Sportman License Applications
A) This is completely new for 2013. All applicable sportman applications were modified for minor competitors; now requiring notarization on the application as well as the previously used two page minor waiver.
B) There will be no difference in the application processes except for the notary portion.
C) NHRA is offering two versions of each of the three minor applications. One is a legal sized two page document, the other a letter sized three page document. NHRA will use the legal form for distrubution by division offices and member tracks. The letter version allowing individuals to print from home off the internet without issues of print on legal paper.
Jr. Dragster Rules and Regulations, Requirements, and Specifications, Engine :1, Engine
All vehicles restricted to a maximum of one rear-mounted - based on a five hoursepwer, single cylinder, single speark-plug, flathead-configured, four-cycle engine, or FACTORY SERALED BRIGGS AND STRATTON 206 CRATE ENGINE
- engine from a recognized OEM or NHRA accepted aftermarket supplier. Must be NHRA accepted. NHRA aftermarket black permitted. Must retain original five hoursepower engine block configuration. Porting, polishing, and relieving of block; boring of cylinder; machining of deck surface permitted. Aftermarket head permitted. Adding material to deck surface, installing a spaver between the block and cylinder head, or any other modification designed to increase the effective deck height of the cylinder prohibited. BRIGGS AND STRATTON JUNIOR 206 CRATE MUST MAINTAIN UN-TAMPERED HOLOGRAM SEAL INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY. NO ALTERATIONS OR MODIFICATIONS TO BRIGGS AND STRATTION 206 CRATE ENGINE PERMITTED EXCEPT FOR INSTALLATION OF EXHAUST HEADER AND AIR FILTER.
Accepted aftermarket engines: Metro Racing flathead, McGee Racing flathead, Tecumseh flathead, LPW Racing Products monter racing block, JR Race Car flathead, Pure Power Racing flathead, M-1 Machine racing blockby Soltz Racing, Huddleston Performance Sniper, and R&S Machine Terminator, AND BRIGGS AND STRATTON JUNIOR 206 FACTORY-SEALED ENGINE. All accepted aftermarket flathead engines must not exceed 10 11/16 inches from base to deck. Any measurement that exceeds that limit is prohibited.
The Briggs & Stratton 206 is for the entry level junior dragster engines, cost est. to be around $600.00.
Division 5 High School Competitors
The high school bracket will be open to any high school student that currently holds a calid unrestricted state drivers license and is currently enrolled, or has graduated from high school the previous spring semester preceding the current NHRA/Summit Racing Series ET Finals. High school competitors will not be aloowed to enter any other eliminator. High school competitors will need to have a permanebt NHRA number and a full or an associate membeship. This class will be a foot brake only class and no electronics will be allowed. High school round wins will count for points in the team championship. See Sportman rules for the technical guidelines.
The champion of the high school bracket will recieve a $1000.00 scholarship. The purpose of the "Dan & Ann Vehige Memorial ET Finals Scholarship" is to acknowledge the achievement of the recipient and to provide an incentive to continue their education. This scholarship has been established to provide post secondary education assistance to the winner of the NHRA/Summit Racing Series ET Finals High School competition.
The "Dan & Ann Vehige Memorial ET Finals Scholarship" is spondored and funded by the West Central Division's ET Steering Committee and General Track Operators and administered byu the National Hot Rod Association West Central Division.
An awards of $1000.00 will be granted upon graduation of high school and upon acceptance/enrollment to an accreditied 2 or 4 year college or vocational technical trade school.
In the event the recipient does not attend a 2 or 4 year college or vocational technical trade school within 2 years of the date of tehir high school graduation, the award will decrease to $500 and be administered in the form of a check made payable to the recipient.
Additionally, in the event the winner of the NHRA/Summit Racing Series ET Finals High School competition is not of graduating age (i.e. senior), the West Central Divison Office, in conjunction with the ET Steering Committee, will keep the award in a separate accound to be presented when the above described criteria has been met.

- This scholarship award was created in honor of the same Vehige's of Mid America Raceway of Wentzville, Missouri.
M.A.R. ran their operation from 1963 till the end in 2004.
Also, I personally miss Ann Vehige at the conession stand, always with a smile, commenting that your car looked really good on that last pass.
