Im new to the drag racing scene. I was wondering how you get a number for your race car. Do you just register with the NHRA or something else? I will be racing at MAR God willing. Have only run the car once. Hopefully be out again next weekend in Benton Il.
Thanks

Go to NHRA.com and log onto it and it will tell you what you need to do.

You don't need a NHRA number for regular weekend racing. You don't even have to be an NHRA member. If you want to race the finals wherever they are (Div 3 is at Indy), you have to be a member and have a number. It can get quite pricey. The only advantage I see to being a member is the insurance. Getting National Dragster is ok but it wouldn't break my heart if they quit sending it and lowered my membership fees.

If you choose not to join the nhra and buy a number, the track will issue you a number when you race. It's usually the number on top of the tech card so it will change week to week. If you run points, you can still run a track appointed number. You will just use the same one all year.

To add to the above, if you are running fast enough to require an NHRA license you will then need to pay the NHRA to be a member to get the license.

I wasn't thinking about him possibly running faster than 10.00.

Until they require anyone running at a NHRA track to have a membership and number ,just to try to add funds to their pocket book.
On another note hope its a bad rumor I heard that 9.99 quicker could be required to wear a Hans device .
Just bought the roll bar padding for 9.99 quicker ,Damn that stuff is just as hard as the roll bar .

That's a personal decision. You need to look at what NHRA offers and decide if it's for you. www.nhra.com/nhra101/join.aspxA membership is $69 a year. It looks like a competition number is $50 per year. You have pay every year to keep the number. I know people who don't race but they are nhra members just to get the National Dragster and discounts to events.

NO HANS DEVICE REQUIRED UNTIL YOU RUN QUICKER THAN 7.50 OR OVER 200 MPH. I think that leaves us out of the equation on that one. My junk does good to run 150
