Odd post talking about tech at this stage...but I hope the track happens as I may be moving back home to MO! Still have my MAR trophies on my shelf.
BTW here at Palm Beach International Raceway (formerly Moroso) we have "extended tech". Works great - you get teched once a year and then just fill out your tech card, put in your number, walk up to the front of the tech line and get your wristband. If you change your car to another tech class it's the honor system to get your tech updated. But you never have to wait in a tech line.

we did the same thing at MAR, we just called it V.I.P.. the only thing I never understood was how a guy could change everything except the fuse for the lighter and still not think the car needed to be teched again.

I can tell you that Ronnie and I have talked about it and we WILL be having a "VIP Tech" that will allow racers to not have to go through tech every week. We are still in discussions about exactly how it will be done but it is out goal that MOST racers will not have to go through tech every week. It is nothing but a waste of time for the racer as well as the track staff. By the way, Ronnie and I both got our "results" from the tech inspectors class and we are both now "SFI Certified Technical Inspectors".

Yes, MAR had their own VIP tech inspection which they charged for, Or, you could get an official NHRA tech inspection at GIR with Big AL and you got an NHRA certification inspection, sticker, and ETI (extended tech inspection) number. There was NO charge for this and it was good for any track in the country. So why not get an NHRA inspection for free which is good any where in the country, or pay for one good only at MAR. This ETI is not a GIR idea, it is NHRA.
