I believe this is news coverage from the very first event held at MAR on August 11, 1963. It was a newspaper purchased August 18 at MAR. this article is written by Homer Tsakis. Attachments:

i aws 3 years old when mar open, not to get off opening day,i need to pick someones brain, was there a time when mar wasnt open,i remember mar back in the 80s,had a chrysler confrence,i remember seening that in one mag, which i think was the start of the mopar nationals,,and the mag artical said it was at a abondon race track in wentzville, also in was at the holiday inn at 70 and lindbergh,i remember going to that in my 69 roadrunner but not the track, thought about this for years maybee someone remembers

i was thinking that i read somewhere that there was at least 1 event that took place at the track every year that it was open..dont know if that is true or not... also i think that the Gateway Street rod club really got the track going again around 84 with the first nostaglia drags..not sure when they went to a full season race schedule though. the early nostalgias were all pre 65 cars..and mostly street rods pre 48 cars.... there is really a lot of history with the track..involving diff mangers/events/etc...it would be neat to see a timeline of MAR with all of the old dates/managers events and so on...

That is awesome!!! Was there an oval at one time too?
The first Mopar Nationals was held at MAR but I don't remember the year but had to be around '85 or '86. Part of the event included a tour of the Fenton Assembly plant where a majority of the "B" bodies were built. Of course that's now gone too. Ain't progress great???

Was this displayed at the show? On the way home I realized that I never saw it so I was wondering it was there and I just missed it.

Not sure if there were any left at the end or not, but there will be more of them available at future events.
