sdfoster91, You got it right. It is a 45 -50 minute drive for us, BUT I HATE IT. Our Rig is to big to be cut off by every car and truck that passes you (we drive the speed limit, and double safe zones) and the curvy up and down road and AS*HOLE DRIVERS let alone Gateway is not the greatest track to start with. We want this track soo bad since we had MAR right here in our back yard 5 minutes away is what spoiled us. God we could race every Sat and Sunday if we wanted.

Mid America Raceway Park Meeting August 11th « Thread Started on Jun 30, 2013, 8:22pm » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello! We know everyone wants an update on the track so we thought we would hold a meeting to inform everyone on what the status is. It's been a long road, but we are still moving forward. There are several reasons for holding this meeting. The first is because we want to keep our supporters informed and trying to relay a message over the internet is sometimes difficult. The second is we want you all to get information straight from us and not from rumors. The third is to discuss a possible way for you all to get involved. The meeting will be held at the American Legion post 323 on Sunday, August 11th. We will be there from 2pm til 5pm with Ronnie starting the meeting at 2:30. Why would you have a meeting the same time there is a pretty big race going on at the local track that is drag racing at this moment?
Mickey Thompson series and bracket racing is going on that same day along with other things.
Racers will race rather then go to the meeting? I know what I will be doing. And its not sitting at a meeting.

Say fellers I don't think this letter is for real, look at the thread date and the fact this is the exact letter word for word except for the date.Another way to get people pissed off when they show and there is no meeting?

From MAR's FB page- Hello everyone! We are having another meeting on August 11 from 2-5 at the American Legion Hall in Wentzville again! You guys asked that we try to have monthly meetings so that is what we plan to do. Alot of great things came out of the first meeting and it was good to see everyone! |

Unless he is going to be telling everyone that he has found a bank to fund this project what's the point of doing another meeting? I for one am not comfortable enough to hand Ronnie Moss a wad of cash to "BUY" a share in this whole ordeal. Everyone was looking at Mocase.net looking at the MAR stuff they need to go do a search on Mr. Moss. It's not pretty.

I have stood behind this project from the start but now my belief is starting to waiver. I understand that Ronnie really and truly wants this to come to life but in todays economy I just don't see it happening. With Dave pulling out as a partner and them no longer having the property to use as collateral the light at the end of the tunnel is getting pretty dim. The powers that be (Ronnie and Steve) really need to look at turning this over to someone that has the financial backing to do this if they really want to see it come to life. Talk to the guys that were going to buy Gateway when it first went up for sale, they have the money and the business background to make it happen.
I sat there in the first meeting and heard Ronnie tell everyone that as soon as they got this up and running it was going to be their full time jobs. I seriously doubt that this track will generate enough income to sustain itself much less pay two full time salaries. Mike Vehige told me several years ago that the amount of time needed to keep the place going was a big factor in the decision to sell. I have no clue whether Mike was paid or not but he would be there 40 plus hours a week not including the endless hours that Ann and Dan put in, but it still wasn't a full time job for any of them.
The monthly payment on 1.6 million is going to be pretty hefty and it's going to take a lot of cash to keep the place going and paying full time salaries just isn't in the cards I'm afraid. Just being a realist not a hater and again I'm sorry that this isn't going where they thought it was, but as each week, month and year go by you see fewer and fewer postings on this page. I think the realization is starting to set in.

So what am I suppose to do with the Plaque I won at the "BENEFIT"car show that says "I helped support Marpark"?  Also, who do I contact for a refund of the money I donated? Just Kidding of course.... But that's what happens when you think with your heart and instead of your brain. |

I have several plaques and T-shirts from the old MAR as well as T-shirts from what we thought was going to be the new MARP I believe they even say Eolia on them, will have to look. I have a big container that my wife stores my memorabilia in so I guess I will store the old and new together for my Grandkids to open and ask WHAT, WHEN AND WHY.. I really hoped this deal would have happened. But as you said hope is in your heart and common sense is in your head. |
