The reason you would want to put down the asphalt now is to give it time to cure and get a set before racing on it. Fresh asphalt will bring oils up to the surface until it's had time to cure and be rained on a few times. Look what happened up at Havana a couple of weeks ago with some fast cars. What happened? I haven't heard how the event went. I didn't take my car because of the "No Electronics" rule. |

i would hope this owner would not use asphalt!! if anything get rid of what he has, and use a concrete , and remove the crappy asphalt,
asphalt always brings oil up, you can fast cure asphalt , by using lime over it but the summer heat brings oil back to the top ,
yes havana had issues, and should not have been run on so early,

the event went over good as for amount of cars, but track was slippery inconsistant
and after sunset, greasy is what i heard , and a wreck or 2
the 600 ft he added for shutdown is usable but theres no return road from it, meaning you have to turn around , and drive back to the return road, but hes trying to get easement ?? to build the return road from the addition

Everyone should know that this deal has been going on for a good while ,so lets simmer down and focus on positives . Stldr and these other sites will post accurate info as it becomes available . Lets just say when I shook Curtis Franois and Rod Wolters hand I finally believed that we are very lucky to have our track on track to reopen. They know we all need to participate and make bracket racing ,heads up index ,the other types of racing cost effective for all . |

Concrete needs curing time also, longer than folks think. |

Amen to that, That is why I am not bring up anything unless I hear it directly from the horses mouth. Witch horse ?  I can tell you personally that they talked to us that is the owner and general manager ,that they would like to get the asphalt done this fall , If not early spring .You could have good weather till Dec . I can confirm that they are going to asphalt from the transition to the finish line. |

I was asked to do a little promo video at the Championship Bracket Racing Series Finals April 3rd 2010 and it was really sad to see not one single person spectating at that event. And then the following Tuesday night the stands had a fairly decent crowd. www.vimeo.com/10680169 |

About 100 spectators stayed for the finals at Maple Grove yesterday. Between that and pushing the sportsmen off til this weekend, has caused a bunch of potential problems for both the track itself, and NHRA.

OAS wasn't much better on spectator count should be some vids of that also .Please Don't use the last race of 2010 it was combined as to appear better . We all know the car counts on both types of racing .SUCKED last year . I've seen alot of good stuff from all racers and whatever they are into . Just hope its all promoted through these sites positively. DR |

Hate to say this to loud right now but here goes. I think that the car counts are going to be a little light at either track. People just don't have the extra cash to spend right now. If we do get two tracks in the Metro area I think it will be a struggle to see more than a hundred cars at any event. I hope I'm wrong in this but racing has taken a hit and it's going to be a while before we see 300-400 cars at the track on any given weekend.
When we go to National events and "NONE" of the fields are full and you go to a divisional race and there are 60 cars in Super Gas and 70 in Super Comp there is definetly an issue that needs to be addressed. Went to Benton last weekend good crowd, saw a lot of Gateway guys that I haven't seen out to much this year, but I would venture to say that his car count wasn't over 250 even with great weather.
We are in trouble as a country folks it's time to start seeing things that are MADE IN THE U.S.A!! If we don't bring jobs back to America the only ones that are going to be able to afford to do anything are the bosses, and we've seen how well that has worked out for us..

sg 3526, i never want to sound negative, its hard, but we as people have been thru alot,
but i really think we will turn the corner and life will be all good agian
just give me a 1/4 mile strip (or 2 ) and all is good to go

Lets be real! Us and our economy have gotten our asses kicked partially by us wanting alotta of not so valuable crap and by lesser economies willing to work for almost nothing that we sold our manufacturing portion of our economy down the river(across the ocean) for a set of lesser expensive set of "H" beam rods imported from CHINA and if you think all will be "good" any where like it was 20 years ago YOU are dreaming we sold out to foreigners at least that long ago how many of us refinanced our homes saying "this house can't be worth this much?" but took the note anyhow figuring we would catch up? In most cases it caught up to the American public the economy is UPSIDE DOWN by at least 35% it will take YEARS to catch up !!! Do us all a favor and buy American whenever possible that means stay out of WALMART DOLLAR GENERAL TARGET HARBOR FREIGHT and everywhere else a large portion of there merchandise is from low paid economies. We are buying our and our children's futures out from under ourselves' over what appears' to be less than 7% of your buying power net over buying American, if you want' the Chinese owning you and your children's children's future keep buying Foreign the"World Economy" is BULLSHIT! fed to people who would rather take the easy road to easy gratification than pay the 7% more it would take to secure their and their children and their children's futures. If a 1/4 mile dragstrip or two is all YOU need for life to be all rosy again especially after all you have been through this last half year. I need to reexamine my relatively trouble free past 6 months Peace On
By the way I'm a guy who has been a lowly laborer in my youth to a reasonably successful business owner over a 46 year working career so I am not venting a "Union" outlook just an "AMERICAN" outlook.
